Google+ The cure all for photographers

I have been playing around on G+ the last week to 10 days or so and I have to say Google has finally done it. I have always said and basically thought "why doesn't Google do something that could rival flickr, facebook, deviantart....something...anything!!??!?" Something where artists from all walks of life could get together in an atmosphere that THEY essentially pick and choose. It isn't like Google doesn't have the power to change things up in the game after all. I am here today to tell you that they have. Drastically. I think in many ways G+ is what I have personally been longing for and seeking all along, though until recently it just n

Quixote on the half-shell

.techgnotic (https://www.deviantart.com/techgnotic) The Intrepid Quest of Kevin Eastman, Defender of the Comics Realm  It’s a shame that most comics enthusiasts prowling the San Diego Convention Center during Comic-Con 2011 mostly or even only know Kevin Eastman as the co-creator (with Peter Laird) of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, not that being one of the authors of one of the most celebrated comics phenomena of all times would not be laurel enough for any creative artist to retire well-rested upon. While the fan-beloved TMNT juggernaut still rampages along unabated, there’s quite a bit more to Kevin’s biography that deviants should be aware of &#

They've Stolen Your Pets...

It’s a nice summer day and your dogs are playing out in the yard as they often do. You keep them fenced in so that they don’t escape and wreak havoc on the neighbor’s flower beds, but trust that they’ll behave while you make a quick trip to the store to pick up something for dinner. When you come back fifteen minutes later, the dogs are gone and no one has seen them – not even the neighbors. Meanwhile, across the street, another member of your community has just let their cat outside to patrol its turf. It’s a fat, amiable cat, who never spends any more than a few hours outdoors if he can help it. Bu

You can only enter one collaborative work into the contest. 2. You can work in groups of 2-3 people. 3. Your work should be posted on or after the contest start date. 4. Art in the Professions Week - Intro!

Art in the Professions Welcome to Art in the Professions week! For those of you who might not know what this new week is all about, Art in the Professions week is dedicated to bringing education and awareness of the many ways in which art can become a career or play a significant role within a career. Through interviews, personal accounts, advice and guidance, articles during the week aim to give the community a taste of how they might be able to make art their profession whether it be within their career or as a job on the side. But even beyond that, we also want to provide helpful resources on the challenges of being a professional artist

The Visual Novel: Video Games as a Literary Medium

What is it? A visual novel is more or less exactly what it sounds like. It's a novel that can be played. While the form has been popular in Japan for decades, they have only recently reached Western audiences, thanks largely in part to the influx of anime, manga, and Japanese Role Playing Games (JRPGs) saturating the market. Consequently, many games of this type have anime influences in the design. The visual novel is most easily compared to interactive fiction or the Choose Your Own Adventure series - at various points, the player is prompted to make some sort of choice that has the potential to affect the outcome of the game.  A typical
